December update

A brief video from Tamsin, Co-Chair of our management committee on what's happening at the community centre now that Bristol is under Tier 3 covid restrictions.

We remain closed for most activities but are able to open for our parent support groups and some organised children's activities. You can keep up to date with what's on and how to book through our Facebook page.

If you need to self-isolate and need help with shopping or prescriptions, call the We Are Bristol helpline on 0800 694 0184. They can also give information about the £500 payment available to people on low incomes if you are unable to work due to having to isolate.

If you'd like to support St George Community Association during this tricky time, we have set up a Just Giving page: www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/stgeorgecommunity. We really appreciate your help.

Notice of closure

The community centre is now closed to the public until further notice, following the Prime Minister’s announcement yesterday. We have been communicating with all our regular hirers this week and very much look forward to welcoming you all back to the centre when it is safe to do so. If you have booked a party with us for March, April or May, we will be contacting you to arrange a refund.

We are also looking into other ways our building can be of use. We have already been contacted by the NHS Blood and Transplant Service about the possibility of extra blood donation sessions. We are open to suggestions from our community, so do get in touch if you have ideas.

You can contact us through Facebook, by email stgeorgecc@hotmail.com or you can text/leave a message on 07757 319 582. Jo our Coordinator works for us 10 hours a week and will be working from home, supported by our volunteer committee.

There is already an amazing grass roots community response going on in BS5, and this is very heartening to see. If you’re on Facebook, search for Covid-19 Mutual Aid. We will get through this together.
