Join us in the garden on 18 June

We're delighted to say that we've been awarded a Wellbeing Grant from St George Neighbourhood Partnership. As part of the project we're running a programme of free community events to encourage local residents to get gardening.

The first event is a Working Party as part of Big Green Week on Saturday 18 June from 2.30 to 4.30pm. There are lots of jobs to get involved in, including clearing weeds, painting the fence plus plenty of planting to get us ready for St George in Bloom.

We will provide tools and gloves, plus plenty of tea and cake for the gardeners. Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult. Look forward to seeing you there!

Out in the Garden

We're delighted to welcome Liz Clough to the team at St George Community Centre. Liz has a wealth of experience in gardening and is currently studying with RHS. She's also got a great background in community events.

We'll have some events coming up later in the summer for you to really get your hands dirty, and help us breathe new life into this slightly neglected corner of St George.

We've also started a crowdfunder campaign. All donations are really gratefully received, please click here to donate. All money raised will help us pay for tools and plants.

We're also on the look-out for any tools that you might have lurking at the back of a shed. If you don't use them any more, please get in touch and we will put them to very good use.

Look forward to seeing you out in the garden soon!

Annual General Meeting

St George Community Association Ltd is holding its annual general meeting on Wednesday 9 March 2016 at 7.30pm. We will be presenting our annual report and accounts. This meeting is open to the whole community, and gives you a chance to be involved in how we run the centre.

It also just happens to be the 20th anniversary of the centre opening, so do come come and celebrate our birthday with us with a glass of fizz and a slice of cake. Maybe we'll come up with a few ideas for the next 20 years!

Your community centre needs YOU!

Could you help run St George Community Centre?

We're looking for new people to join our management committee...

About us

St George Community Centre is an affordable venue for a diverse range of groups and activities. From Tai Chi to Toddler Groups, there's always plenty going on. We have a Community Asset Transfer from Bristol City Council (who own the building) and all the income we generate is used to maintain this vital community resource.

About you

  • You live or work in St George and want to make a difference to your community.
  • You can commit to a 2 hour meeting every 6 weeks.
  • You are able to join our keyholder rota to open/close the centre for occasional parties and events.
  • You have skills that could help run this community building. At the moment we're particularly looking for support with marketing and fundraising.

This is a voluntary position, but we can promise plenty of tea and biscuits at meetings. Plus we are a friendly and supportive bunch! If you're interested in joining us, please email us at stgeorgecc@hotmail.com explaining how your skills and experience could help St George Community Centre.

If you'd like an informal chat please call Tamsin Harcourt, chair of the management committee, on 07531 751 997.

St George Community Association Ltd is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee no 08152352 and a registered charity no 1150688.

Happy New Year

Happy new year from all of us at St George Community Centre. We're happy to report that all our regular groups are back this week, so if your new year resolution was to get active, why not check out our calendar? Click on What's On to find out more.

We have several things in the pipeline too, so keep an eye on our website and Facebook page to find out about new groups and activities at the centre. Don't forget that you can also sign up to our email newsletter.

And finally, we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along to our Festive Fete in December. We're delighted to announce that we raised £344.41. This has paid for essential repairs to our accessible toilet, with a little left over.

We look forward to seeing you soon at the centre, it's going to be a great year!
