Goodbye Angela

Today was our Centre Co-ordinator Angela's last day and we are very sad to see her go, but wish her well in her work with Playing Out. Angela has been a real asset to the Community Centre and the Management Committee would like to thank her for all her hard work in keeping us organised, always working with enthusiasm and good humour.

Jo Drummond, our new Centre Co-ordinator will be starting on 2 November. In the meantime, the management committee will be picking up messages, so it may take a little longer than normal to get a reply so please be patient with us!

For all hire enquiries, please email us stgeorgecc@hotmail.com and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Please apply by CV to stgeorgecc@hotmail.com. This is the correct email address - a rogue extra 'c' crept into the advert used in the Air Balloon Primary School newsletter. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

WI.RED Monthly Meeting – WEDS 20th August - TODAY!

Doors open at 7.30pm. Meeting starts at 8pm.

Tonight will be a clothes swap (swishing) followed by an outfit upcycling demonstration and jewellery workshop.

Swish for something you wish
Swishing refers to swapping an item or items of clothing or shoes or an accessory with friends or acquaintances. Parties must willingly give an item to participate in the transaction, once they have given an item they are free to choose something of interest from what others have offered. Value does not come into the equation, swappers do not necessarily get an item of equal value and are free to choose anything that other people have offered (without having to pay).

For Frock's Sake!
Once all your swishing donations have been deposited, we will be educated in the art of upcycling from the fabulous Fliss who runs 'For Frock's Sake'.

She will also be running a jewellery workshop during the meeting, so you will have the opportunity to handpick some pretty beads and construct a pair of earrings to take home at the end of the evening. Please be aware that this workshop requires a surcharge of £2 pp to cover the cost of the beads.

Guests are welcome at a cost of £3.50.

Tuesday Time for Tots - We need your help!

Tuesday Time for Tots Update:

Just to give you all an update about Tuesday Tots. Currently, we don't have someone to take over running the group after Tuesday 1st April. As you may be aware several people have approached Angela to say that they could help out by running it on a rota basis. We have not run it in this way in the past, but we are interested to see if we can make this work. We are planning to set up a meeting with this group of people to see if we can come up with a workable plan over the next few weeks, however we can't guarantee that we will have something in place for the first week after the Easter Break. All the people on the committee are volunteers and have holiday and other commitments , so it may take a while to get a meeting organised, but we will do our best to make it happen as soon as possible.

All of this means that we cannot say that the group will definitely be running after Easter. Keep your eye on the community centre website www.stgeorgecc.co.uk and the time for tots facebook page for updates.

If you think you can help in some way with the Tots group (either Tues or Weds) please e-mail your details to Angela on stgeorgecc@hotmail.com or text 07757 319 582. She will be in touch about organising a meeting.

Thank you all for your support so far, and hope for your continued support in the future.

Kate (Chair of the Community Centre)
