Christmas is coming...

Just over a month to go now to our Christmas Craft Fair on Sunday 8 December. We've got some great stalls lined up including decorations from Purple Christmas, handcrafted items Tree Kangaroo Crafts, and jams and chutneys from Sams Jams.

We're also delighted to say that the lovely Tamilla Thomas, a talented local violinist, will be serenading you at the event with some lilting festive tunes, very atmospheric!

For the children there's the chance to meet Father Christmas, plus games and craft activities. For the grown-ups, don't forget that you'll get a free mulled wine with your entrance ticket (or nice cuppa if you prefer). Don't forget to pick up some home-made cake from our renowned bake stall. We're also busy collecting some great raffle prizes.

So put the date in your diary and come along and shop local for your Christmas presents this year.

Christmas Fair

A team of volunteers is busy planning for our annual Christmas Fair. We had a break in 2012, but are hoping to make this year bigger and better than ever. The 2013 St George Christmas Fair will be held at St George Community Centre on Sunday 8 December.

There will be a mix of great stalls, including local crafts and the ever-popular cake stall. We're also planning activities for children and some festive live music. Mulled wine and mince pies will probably make an appearance too...

You can download a stall booking form here. We would also love to hear from you if you would like to help out on the day or in the weeks running up to the event.

Summer Tots Special

It's the summer holidays, the kids are climbing the walls, you've developed far too much encyclopaedic Cbeebies knowledge. And your favourite local toddler group is closed. Or is it..?

The team of volunteers behind Time for Tots are opening for two special summer dates - Tuesday 13 and 20 August. The sessions are a little later than term time, running from 10am until 12pm, but rest assured it's otherwise the usual routine.

So that's toys, craft, snack and songtime, plus older siblings are welcome.

Hope you enjoy the sessions, and don't forget that Time for Tots will be back at the usual time in September.

Come rain or shine...

A really big thank you to all our fantastic volunteers who helped make our pop up Tea Room at Redfest such a great success on Saturday. Whether you baked a cake, or helped serve the tea, your support was much appreciated.

And thanks to those of of you who came along and spent your money, we raised over £150 for the Community Centre, and completely sold out of cake.

We're hoping to enjoy a fairly quiet few weeks now, as September is already looking busy! We look forward to seeing you again at St George Community Centre very soon.

Time for Tea?

The team at St George Community Centre is busy preparing a pop-up tea room as part of Redfest on Saturday 3 August.  We're planning to serve home-made cakes and scones, all profits will go to the upkeep of the community centre.

If you make a mean Victoria sandwich or fantastic flapjack, we'd love to hear from you. We're also looking for volunteers to do a stint on the day serving teas and coffees. In return we can offer you free cake and a warm glow...

Please get in touch through the blog or our Facebook page if you can help.
